dorsaVi Introduces ViSafe To U.S. To Help Companies Prevent Workplace Injuries

Minneapolis, MN /PRNewswire/ -- dorsaVi Pty Limited, (AXA:DVL) today introduced ViSafe, a non-invasive, wearable sensor system that measures movement and muscle activity while on the job, enabling companies to redesign certain workplace activities to improve safety and prevent injuries.

"We are excited to bring ViSafe to the U.S. market and give employers data that shows how certain repetitive motions can strain muscles, joints and other parts of the back, leading to wear and tear and increased injuries," states John Kowalczyk, president of dorsaVi U.S. "Using the information provided by ViSafe, companies reduce workers' compensation costs by changing how certain jobs are performed."

How it Works
Employees wear the ViSafe device while on the job. ViSafe measures employees' movement and muscular activity on various parts of the body while the employee is engaged in their everyday workplace activities. dorsaVi then assesses the data and helps employers find solutions to eliminate, reduce and better manage physical work demands, with the goal of reducing injury rates and work related costs.

According to Occupational Health and Safety Administration, it has been estimated that direct workers' compensation costs U.S. employers almost $1 billion per week. "Given the high costs associated with workers' compensation in the U.S., ViSafe is an excellent way to assess risk and manage workplace programs," adds Kowalczyk.

The U.S. launch of ViSafe follows introduction of the product in Australia and the United Kingdom where it has been successfully used by large and small companies, in sectors from retail to mining.
