Because fire and building codes cannot cover every situation—and are revised continually—they prove problematic for both designers and owners of buildings. In addition, fire protection is a specialized, scientifically based engineering discipline. The combination of these two facts makes it even more difficult for electrical, mechanical, or structural engineers to keep pace with advances in fire protection outside their disciplines.

That's where HSB PLC comes in. Fire protection is our specialty. Our staff has specialized education and experience in the discipline of fire protection engineering. In addition, our engineers and consultants are active members of approximately 40 technical committees of the National Fire Protection Association. We are aware of the rationale underlying the codes and of changes in the codes. In fact, we often are able to anticipate changes. HSB PLC can help designers and owners overcome the problems of code changes and situations that codes do not address.

Cost-effective code compliance requires the coordinated implementation of a viable plan. The issue of code compliance is obvious in the planning of a new facility. However, the establishment of specific fire protection objectives and the coordination of compliance efforts often are overlooked. Regulatory agency inspections generally do not provide options to correct deviations.

HSB PLC moves beyond problem identification. We evaluate alternatives, use technology to develop appropriate solutions, and provide innovative recommendations to help achieve client objectives.
