Horton Workshops Demonstrate The Value Of Pre-Employment Strength Testing

ORLAND PARK, Ill.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Non-fatal workplace injuries cost U.S. businesses billions of dollars each year. In fact, American businesses spent more than $87 billion in 2006 for workers' compensation premiums alone.1 While workplace injuries will never be completely eliminated, The Horton Group is inviting employers to learn how a simple, new 15-minute pre-employment strength test can help determine if job applicants are up to the physical demands of the position. The first complimentary workshop is scheduled for October 29, 2008, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am at their offices located in Orland Park.

Even though it can be very hard to find qualified employees, companies must make every effort to avoid hiring their next workers' compensation claim. "Before implementing the pre-employment strength testing, we experienced several costly workers' compensation claims, many of which were caused by pre-existing conditions," said Steve Darvin of Darvin Furniture. "Our problem was finding applicants who best matched the demands of the job. We have been very pleased to find a quick, safe and cost effective solution."

At the workshop, Network Safety Consultants, Inc.'s President and Founder Gary Glader and Human Resources Consultant Michelle Mikrut will explain pre-employment strength testing and demonstrate the use of isokinetics in this important screening process. Network Safety Consultants, a Horton Group subsidiary, exists to help contractors, manufacturers, industrial companies and public-sector employers reduce the costs associated with accidents, injuries, financial loss and lost productivity.

Attendees will also receive information on applicable employment law, jobs best suited to strength testing, post-injury testing and how isokinetics can positively impact the bottom line. Glader, a Certified Safety Professional, has helped employers develop and implement effective safety programs for more than 30 years.

Executive managers, human resource directors and safety staff will benefit from this workshop. There is no fee, however space is limited. To learn more about pre-employment strength testing or to register, visit www.thehortongroup.com/strengthtesting or contact Michelle Mikrut at 866-335-3668.
