Det-Tronics has announced a new, widest-ever range of international approvals for its PointWatch range of compact and lightweight infrared hydrocarbon detectors
Detector Electronics Corporation has announced a new, widest-ever range of international approvals for its PointWatch range of compact and lightweight infrared hydrocarbon detectors.

As well as Factory Mutual, Cenelec and Canadian Standards Association, these gas detectors now have approvals from Brazil's Cepel, the Standards Association of Australia and Russia's Gosstandart, plus Poland's Prochem Hazardous Approval, the Government of India's Department of Explosives and the City of New York.

Compared to traditional catalytic gas detectors, the PointWatch offers the advantages of lower maintenance costs by not needing routine calibration, operation in oxygen depleted environments and reliable performance in high concentrations or prolonged exposure to background gases, plus resistance to silicones or hydrides that poison catalytic sensors.

The 2½ x 8¼in unit's explosion-proof enclosure is available in aluminum or stainless steel. A ‘unique' multi-layered filter system protects the optics from dirt and water ingress, while the optics are heated to prevent condensation. Response speed of under 2sec is offered and all models are supplied with a 5-year warranty.
