Level C Law Enforcement First Responder Kit

The Backup Training Corporation has teamed up with Adamson Industries, to provide law enforcement agencies with a unique, Level C Law Enforcement First Responder Kit. Our kit features high quality branded products in a custom tactical thigh style bag. The bag contains items needed to meet OSHA Level C, personal protection standards. The bag was designed to allow the "Omega Style" gas mask carrier to be removed and used independently in crowd control, tactical, and SWAT situations. With the gas mask and WMD bags combined they provide police personnel with a compact kit. The entire kit can be carried over the shoulder, on a waist belt or attached to many load bearing tactical vests. This versatility allows the officer's hands to remain free. Our kit system is effective on patrol, in a heightened alert status, or on perimeter operations. It allows officers to carry personal protective equipment without having multiple bags or a larger hand carried duffle. Our kit's contents meet OSHA standards for Level C type ensembles.

The lack of affordable personal protective equipment (PPE) has been identified as a major shortfall in preparing law enforcement agencies to respond to incidents of chemical weapon (CW) terrorism. To assist the first responder, a study/test effort was undertaken to identify a range of low cost commercially available ensembles that could be used on the perimeter of an incident where very low levels of CW contamination may be present. Our ensemble contains the MSA Millennium Advantage 1000 gas mask, and a Tyvek-pro chemical protective over-garment, Butyl rubber gloves, and protective over boots. The kit contents fit securely in our custom tactical style bag.

In responding to this type of event, quality respiratory protection was found to be the most critical aspect of the ensemble. Butyl rubber gloves provide superior protection against CW agents and the addition of a commercially available over-garment (elastic hood and wrist closures with built-in boots) was found to provide liquid splash protection and minimal vapor protection. It must be emphasized that this ensemble is intended for first responder use in the cold zone only.
