O.J. Watson Gives Mechanics Extra Lift With New Stellar Cranes

Denver-based custom truck builder O.J. Watson is proud to announce the new, redesigned mechanics service bodies and cranes from Stellar Industries.

Denver, CO (PRWEB) - “These new bodies are ‘state of the art.’ And the new crane controls bring a level of safety and immediate feedback to the operator not available previously,” says Mark Eckrich, Watson’s vice president-general manager. “Stellar cranes and crane bodies outperform competitors in both safety and reliability, which equates to less downtime and greater productivity. This is a huge benefit to both contractors and municipal users alike where operator safety and productivity concerns are paramount.”

Eleven distinct Mechanics Truck packages allow users to order the build that best suits their needs. Complete turnkey packages are offered that include a heavy-duty, long-wearing steel body, an air compressor and a task-oriented drawer system that keeps tools and accessories organized for easy access.

Stellar service cranes are available with lifting capacities ranging from 2,000 to 14,000 pounds. The cranes are designed with hexagonal booms that make them stronger and reduce boom flex and side-to-side movement and slippage. Multi-function valve banks are standard on most models and planetary winches provide line speeds up to 60 feet per minute. Stainless steel is used at critical points to extend the cranes’ service life and lower maintenance costs.

The Stellar CDTplus™ crane dynamics technology incorporates industry-leading two-way communications that feeds real-time information to the operator. This industry-leading technology relays the actual load, reach and angle back to the operator making them aware of how much extra reach is possible with the current load. The system also provides the operator a “boost” in crane capacity up to 118% for short periods if the situation warrants.

CDTplus-equipped cranes also have an enhanced safety system that alerts the operator if a device monitor is operating incorrectly and automatically switches to “safe mode,” allowing the operator to keep working at reduced speed until the safety device is functioning properly.

“Stellar hasn’t missed a thing with these product enhancements” Eckrich adds. “They even designed the controls, latches and handles to be easy to operate wearing heavy gloves. That’s a big plus in our part of the country.”

Stellar Industries, Inc., was established in 1990 in Garner, Iowa as the first North American company to design and manufacture the hydraulic hooklift. Since then, the company has expanded its product line and grown to become an industry leader in both domestic and international markets.

O.J. Watson Equipment was founded in 1912 in Wichita, Kansas by Oscar J. Watson, an entrepreneur whose friends and business associates included American icons Henry Ford, Clyde Cessna, Walter Chrysler, William Coleman, John Willys, and David Sarnoff. O.J. Watson expanded to Denver in 1974 and in 1988 the company was purchased by Richard Eckrich, who has carried on the tradition of family ownership. The firm also maintains a full-service operation in Greeley, Colorado.

“Our goal is always to go beyond simply selling our customer an equipment package,” says VP-GM Mark Eckrich, a member of O.J. Watson’s ownership family. “We create business solutions by matching the customer with the size and style of equipment and truck best suited to their needs.”

If that means finding a specialty manufacturer like Stellar Industries to work with on a custom design, that’s what O.J. Watson does. “We’re only as good as the last truck we built,” Eckrich adds, “and we keep that uppermost in our minds on every project.”

O.J. Watson’s relationship with customers doesn’t end with the sale. “We build trucks to do a job, and that job continues long after the sale,” says Eckrich. “Service isn’t just a department to us, it’s a commitment. We stock spare parts and supplies for the trucks we sell to keep our customers up and running.”

In addition to Crane Trucks, O.J. Watson builds Aerial Bucket Trucks, Service Body Trucks, Platform Trucks, Dump Trucks, Hook Lifts, and a wide variety of Snow & Ice Control equipment. O.J. Watson trucks and equipment are on the job throughout the Rocky Mountain West for municipal and commercial operations, state workers, airports, and federal work crews performing everything from the smallest tasks to heavy-duty demands in a full range of applications.
