Vishay HiRel Systems LLC Earns OHSAS 18001:2007 And ISO 14001:2004 Certification For Zhuhai, China Plant

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. recently announced that Vishay HiRel Systems LLC has earned Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Specification (OHSAS) 18001:2007 and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 14001:2004 certification for its plant its plant in Zhuhai, China. The registration audits were conducted by BSI, and the site was certified for the manufacture of magnetic devices.

OHSAS 18001:2007 is an internationally applied British standard for occupational health and safety management systems. By setting out best practices, it helps all kinds of organizations put in place demonstrably sound occupation health and safety performance.

ISO 14001:2004 is a global specification covering the processes and practices necessary to limit environmental impact through significantly reduced energy and raw materials consumption, as well as lower production of waste materials. Certification requires an organization to identify the environmental impact of its operations, document controls that are in place, and take a systematic approach to continuously improving its environmental performance.

At Vishay HiRel’s Zhuhai plant, the company manufactures custom magnetics including inductors, antenna coils, and transformers. By producing these components to the stringent requirements set by OHSAS 18001:2007 and ISO 14001:2004, the company is demonstrating its commitment to maintaining a safe, risk-free work environment, while conserving resources and decreasing its impact on the environment.
