ABB Units Receive National Safety Council's Perfect Record Award

Norwalk, CT — ABB, a leading power and automation technology group, announced recently its North American Power Systems operation, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, and its Robotics operation, headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan, received the National Safety Council’s Perfect Safety Award.

The award recognizes companies, units and/or facilities that have completed a period of at least 12 consecutive months without incurring an occupational injury or illness that resulted in days away from work.

“These operations are the first to receive this award in North America,” said Darryl C. Hill, Safety and Health Officer for ABB in North America.” He went on to say, “These awards are the result of heightened awareness in all of ABB’s operations to take the necessary steps to help assure the safety of our employees.” He pointed to several initiatives underway to facilitate this awareness. “Our occupational health and safety (OHS) management systems, safety observation tours, professional development for OHS advisors and others have helped make these awards possible.” He noted the incident rate for ABB is one-half of the national average for all industries.
