AIHA Hosts Hearing Conservation Metrics TeleWeb
Fairfax, VA - The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) will host "Hearing Conservation Metrics: Measuring Effectiveness," an intermediate TeleWeb Virtual Seminar, on November 8, 2007, from 2–4:30 p.m. ET. While the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) require an "effective, on-going" hearing conservation program for noise-exposed workers, no definition of effectiveness is provided. During this TeleWeb, presenters from a range of industries will share the approaches and metrics they use to assess the effectiveness of their hearing conservation programs.
Featured speakers include Lee Hager, hearing loss prevention consultant with Sonomax Hearing Healthcare and Aearo Technologies; Joseph Cissna, CIH, industrial hygienist for Portland General Electric; Christina Dixon-Ernst, CIH, senior staff industrial hygienist and audiologist for Alcoa; and Neil Barone, CIH, MPH, industrial hygiene group leader at ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences.
Presentations will include information on the following:
- Introduction to hearing conservation metrics
- Case Study, "Measuring Effectiveness of an HCP in an Electric Utility"
- Case Study, "Alcoa Hearing Conservation Metrics"
- Case Study, "Hearing Conservation Evaluation Measures in ExxonMobil"
Attendees will learn to:
- Use data generated by their hearing conservation programs to assess program effectiveness
- Apply quantitative metrics to aid in program evaluation
- Objectively assess hearing conservation program performance
