AIHA Introduces Exposure Assessment Strategies And Statistics DVD
Fairfax, VA - The American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA) is offering an intermediate course available on DVD entitled "Exposure Assessment Strategies and Statistics."
The course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to develop strategies for effectively managing workplace exposures. These strategies will lead to more efficient use of monitoring resources, better evaluation of exposures and monitoring data, and improved communication of exposure risks to employees and management. The course includes instruction, examples, and exercises on conducting basic characterizations, developing similar exposure groups, performing qualitative and quantitative exposure assessments, developing monitoring plans, and conducting statistical analysis of quantitative assessments.
Participants will receive the AIHA publication A Strategy for Assessing and Managing Occupational Exposures, 3rd Edition, 2006. Key concepts from the publication covered in the workshop include exposure groups, sampling designs, and interpreting exposure monitoring data. Additions to the 2007 version are the Bayesian statistics and dermal exposure assessment. Problem-solving exercises are included throughout the course for participants to apply the concepts to a real-world maintenance scenario.
Featured speakers include Sheryl A. Milz, PhD, CIH, assistant professor of public health at the Medical University of Ohio; Jennifer Sahmel, CIH, CSP, occupational health manager for the National Park Service's Intermountain Region; Michelle Dunham, MSPH, MSM, consultant for Georgia Tech's Safety and Health Consultation Program; Barry Graffeo, CIH, corporate industrial hygienist at Eli Lilly and Company; Carey Newton, MSPH, CIH, associate environmental consultant for Eli Lilly and Company; Paul Hewett, PhD, CIH, founder and president of Exposure Assessment Solutions, Inc. and an adjunct professor at West Virginia University; William Bullock, MSPH, CIH, CSP, global manager of Occupational Health at International Paper's Arizona Chemical Division; and Joseph Damiano CIH, CSP, occupational health manager for Alcoa Investment Cast and Forged Products.
