BICSI Introduces 10 Essential Safety Courses

Tampa, FL - BICSI CONNECT, the online interactive learning network for information transport systems (ITS) professionals, recently added 10 new courses to its roster.

The courses, all regarding the subject of safety, are intended to educate students on how to prevent accidents and promote protection in the workplace environment. Provided with the flexibility of 24/7 Web-based training, students have the ability to earn continuing education credits (CECs) at their own pace, without incurring travel expenses and at a reduced cost compared to traditional classes.

Each of the new safety courses cost $59 and can be taken on any computer that is equipped with speakers.

  • Fall Protection – Learn how to prevent injuries, disabilities and fatalities from fall-related accidents. This course awards 2 CECs for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • OSHA Recordkeeping – Review the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) set of rules for recordkeeping, and learn the OSHA requirements for recordkeeping and how to use forms 300, 300a and 301. This course awards 2 CECs for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • OSHA Hazard Communications - Review OSHA's Hazard Communication standard and the basics of the "Right-to-Know" or "HazCom" law. Learn the requirements of the employer and employee, physical and health hazards, and the rights and responsibilities under this standard. This course awards 2 CECs for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Hazard Identifications and Controls – Be proactive in the workplace by learning how to identify and control or eliminate potential work hazards, unsafe work practices and unsafe procedures. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Hazardous Energy: Lockout/Tagout – Learn how to comply with OSHA's Control of Hazardous Energy and Lockout and Tagging of Circuits Regulations (OSHA 1910.147 and 1926.417), and understand the consequences of not using proper procedures. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Hearing Safety – Learn how to use hearing protection properly both on and off the job. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Job Safety Analysis – Be able to determine the hazards of a specific job or task, and develop solutions to eliminate or control them so that the project can be done safely. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Ladder Safety – Recognize and avoid hazards and be aware of safe practices in setting up, storing, moving and working from ladders. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Personal Protective Equipment – Recognize when personal protective equipment (PPE) is needed, what PPE is needed for, what it can do, and how to care for it. Understand how to protect the entire body against heat and cold hazards by using proper PPE. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
  • Trenching and Shoring Safety – Learn how to recognize trench hazards, prevent deadly cave-ins and handle emergency situations if they occur while trenching and shoring. This course awards 1 CEC for RCDD, OSP Specialty, Level 2 Installers and Technicians.
