Cornerstone Training Institute And Safety Council Of Central And Western New York Join Forces To Provide Local Workers With Asbestos Training

The Safety Council of Central and Western New York has used some of its grant money to provide workers with asbestos removal training at Cornerstone Training Institute. The classes will be provided to the first 24 registrants of the Asbestos Handler Initial class to be held at Cornerstone from January 18th – January 21st, 2010.

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) -- Cornerstone Training Institute, an Environmental Safety Firm based outside of Rochester, NY, announced today that the Safety Council of Central and Western New York has used some of its grant money to provide asbestos training for local companies and workers.

Each year, the Central and Western New York chapter of the National Safety Council (NSC) receives grants from the NYS Dept of Labor: Hazard Abatement Board. Many of these grants are used to administer safety training through high-quality classroom facilities like Cornerstone Training Institute. The mission of the National Safety Council is to save lives by preventing injuries and deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the roads, through leadership, research, education and advocacy.

Recent demolition and architectural projects, such as Rochester's Midtown Plaza, have increased the demand for highly-trained asbestos removal contractors. In order to ensure worker safety in these environments, the Central and Western NY chapter and Cornerstone Training Institute continue to build partnerships with the local workforce.

Darren Yehl, President and Training Director at Cornerstone Training Institute, was excited to announce this initiative with the Central and Western NY branch. "We're blessed to have a wonderful relationship with the Safety Council. Together we strive to enhance the awareness and job skills of the New York State workforce. We hope that government grants like these continue to make it easier for businesses to provide their workers with proper asbestos removal training and certification. I would like to encourage New York State businesses to become members of the National Safety Council. It's a tremendous organization that keeps businesses on top of important compliance and safety issues."

The Asbestos Handler Initial class, made possible by an exclusive government training grant, is open to the first 24 registrants and runs from January 18 – January 21, 2010. To register for the Asbestos Handler Initial class, call 585-319-3625 or visit the Cornerstone Training Institute at 1680 Lyell Avenue, Suite 200, Rochester, New York 14606. Classroom training is covered in full by the Safety Council grant; however a small fee for materials, certifications, respirators, and fit testing is required. Call Cornerstone for details.
