Cramer Introduces...The SmartStep™ Ladder A Beeping Innovation in Workplace Safety
KANSAS CITY, KS (1.10.00) – N/A, has set a new standard for safety ladders with its recent introduction of the SmartStep™. Thanks to pressure switch sensing, this rolling platform ladder actually tells the user when they have reached the bottom and can safely step off – this ladder beeps.
"It's ideal for those applications where individuals are carrying items that obstruct their view, thus creating a potential accident if they miss the bottom step," says Jeff Meyer, Cramer's VP of Sales and Marketing. With an ever-increasing need for improvements in workplace safety, the SmartStep goes one step further by combining an audible alarm with a pressure sensitive switch located beneath the highly tactile tread on the ladder's bottom step. The ladder operator's weight depresses the switch below the stair tread which in turn closes an electronic switch and activates the 1-second beep.
The "beep" is not the only safety feature built-into the ladder. Both top and bottom steps are brightly colored and textured, plus the top step features a warning label. As a result, users are easily reminded exactly where they are on the ladder at all times. Every other step has a long-wearing, grit-like, non-slip tread to help insure a stronger user footing.
According to Lee Denny, Director of Product Development, the SmartStep is a tremendous product line extension of Cramer's already successful StopStep™ rolling platform ladders. "We took an already great product and made it even better," says Denny.
The SmartStep is constructed of high-tensile aluminum that is welded throughout; it remains sturdy since there are no bolts or joints to come loose. The ladder also features weight-activated casters that won't roll when weight is applied, but roll easily when the weight is removed.
"Environments of all types will benefit from using the SmartStep, from offices to warehouses," says Meyer. "This product satisfies a truly unmet need in any workplace setting where individuals use rolling platform ladders."
The ladder is available in 2-, 3-, 4-, 5- and 6-step models in a variety of easy-on-the-eyes colors. Optional handrails are available on the larger step versions. The SmartStep also features a limited 10-year warranty.
