Enhanced STOP™ Training Program From DuPont Safety Resources Designed To Improve Safety Of Federal Government Workplaces

Self-Implemented Safety Program Can Benefit a Variety of Government Agencies

San Diego, California, GSA Expo 2005 - Ensuring today's generation of employees come home safe from work each day is the focus of the enhanced STOP™ training program from DuPont Safety Resources. The program, designed to prevent injuries and incidents in the workplace by building a culture of safety, has been recently expanded to better meet the needs of federal government workers.

By nature of their size and scope, federal government agencies are diffuse organizations with safety issues often handled differently across facilities, departments and geographies. These issues can range from failure to take basic preventative measures (e.g. wearing face shields in designated areas) to improper positioning of equipment to repetitive motion injuries. The self-implemented STOP™ series of programs outline a consistent approach to managing safety throughout an organization by teaching auditing skills for observing people while they work and reinforcing safe work practices.

"By streamlining the STOP™ program and enhancing interactivity, federal supervisors and employees now have more opportunities to practice skills and apply new insights through a thought-provoking individual and group educational approach," said Michael Crickenberger, vice president of DuPont government business development. "We believe this program is well suited to a broad range of federal government agencies, including the Department of Energy (DOE), U.S. Postal Service (USPS), Government Printing Office (GPO), Department of Agriculture (USDA), and the Transportation Security Agency (TSA)."

In addition to helping prevent injuries, the STOP™ series of programs can improve operations and financial results as a result of decreasing lost time and associated costs such as workman's compensation claims.

"STOP™ for Supervision helps federal organizations jumpstart a continuous safety improvement program through management participation," said Miray Pereira, global business director, training materials, DuPont Safety Resources. "If behavior-based efforts are to produce sustainable results, employees must see executives and managers as an integral part of the safety process, demonstrating examples of safe behavior along with a willingness to commit the necessary time and resources."
