Esstech, Inc. Achieves OSHA Award
Esstech, Inc. of Essington, PA, has been awarded the SHARP certification (Safety & Health Achievement Recognition Program) through OSHA. This rating has been achieved by less than 40 other companies in Pennsylvania.
The certification required Esstech to undergo a series of inspections and interviews and also work with the Indiana University of Pennsylvania for OSHA consultation. The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP) recognizes all employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system.
"I'm very proud of our employees' ongoing dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and of this very deserved recognition from OSHA," said Henry M. ("Tac") Justi, Chief Executive Officer of Esstech and of parent, Justi Group Inc. "A voluntary program, SHARP recognizes small employers who operate an exemplary safety and health management system," Justi explains, "Esstech's acceptance into SHARP by OSHA is an achievement of status that singles us out among business peers as a model for worksite safety and health."
The SHARP certification was awarded to Esstech after an on-site audit of its operations. OSHA inspectors rated Esstech on more than 50 items ranging from hazard prevention and safety and health training to management supervision and employee participation. Companies must meet or exceed OSHA standards in every category to receive SHARP certification.
"The program is designed to recognize companies doing an outstanding job of promoting the safety and health of its employees," said Howard Slaff, General Manager of Esstech. "It goes beyond just having safety rules. It's about developing a culture where awareness, training and best practices are encouraged and enforced every day."
Esstech formally received the award during a ceremony at their facility on September 1, 2009. As a certified SHARP site, Esstech is granted a one-year exemption from OSHA's scheduled inspections and can renew its certification annually.
