MN8 Foxfire Launches New Safety & Egress Division: LumAware

291807

Cincinnati, OH /PRNewswire-iReach/ – MN8®, UL-certified developer of photoluminescent safety products, today announced its new safety and egress division: MN8LumAware®. In addition to continuing to serve more than 65,000 firefighters in over 25 countries under division MN8 Foxfire®, MN8 launched LumAware to provide commercial buildings, sports arenas, universities, hotels and more, with photoluminescent emergency egress systems and exit signs. LumAware develops a UL-approved exit sign that requires no batteries, electricity or testing.

Installed in the BB&T Center (formerly The Bank of Kentucky Center), the University of Oregon Law Library, FIU Arena, Beachwalk Hotel Condominium, Mardi Gras Casino, and others, including sports arenas ranging from NHL to Division 1 facilities, LumAware’s photoluminescent egress system illuminates zero-light, smoke-filled environments to increase accountability and decrease disorientation, improving building evacuations and reducing serious injury and death.

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, photoluminescent exit signs are the most energy efficient exit signs available. In addition to providing life-saving guidance, LumAware’s photoluminescent safety products also qualify for LEED credits. They charge quickly from any light source and can be recharged indefinitely.

International Building & Fire Codes

Now a part of the International Building Code and International Fire Code, photoluminescent exit path markings are required within the emergency escape stairwell enclosures of all buildings over 75 feet in height. Similar to other high-rise buildings, residential occupancies containing sleeping units (where occupants are transient in nature), such as hotels and motels over 75 feet, must also have approved luminous egress path markings delineating the exit path.

“Steady growth in the firefighting industry not only allowed for investment in R&D to make the technology glow brighter and longer, but it also boosted MN8’s expansion into safety and egress systems under LumAware,” said Zachary Green, CEO of MN8 Foxfire and LumAware. “This advanced photoluminescent technology, previously only available to firefighters, is now available to all people firefighters protect.”
