New Mill Manager Praises Weyerhaeuser Safety

Weyerhaeuser Co. has named Anna Skrobecki vice president and mill manager for its Flint River pulp mill located near Oglethorpe, GA. She replaces Kent Walker, who was named to lead the company's Columbus, MS mill in September.

"I look forward to working with the Flint River team," said Skrobecki. "The facility has an excellent reputation for its highly skilled workforce, outstanding safety program, and world-class environmental performance. I look forward to working with the employee force and becoming a contributing member to Flint River and the surrounding communities."

Skrobecki joined Weyerhaeuser in 1998 as fiber and utilities team leader of the company's containerboard mill in Springfield, OR. Prior to joining Weyerhaeuser, Skrobecki was an engineering manager for Industra Inc. in Seattle, and resident manager for James River Corp.

She holds Bachelor of Science degrees in pulp/paper technology and chemical engineering from the University of Washington, and a master's in business administration from the University of Portland in Oregon.

Weyerhaeuser's Flint River pulp mill employs 400 people, and produces bleached kraft pulp for the absorbent lining in disposable diapers. The mill was acquired from Procter & Gamble in 1992. The plant has won multiple awards in both safety and environmental areas. In 1997, it was designated by the EPA as a "Project XL" site (eXcellence and Leadership) for outstanding environmental performance.
