PDA-style device performs tests 97% faster than traditional octave band analyzers while improving overall accuracy and can even act as an acoustical data web server.

Oconomowoc, WI, July 27, 2004: Quest Technologies Incorporated, an employee-owned world leader in the development and manufacture of monitoring instrumentation and software for occupational and environmental health & safety (OEHS) applications, today announced the release of SoundPro DLX, the world's most powerful hand-held acoustic measurement system. According to Mike Wurm, Vice President of Engineering for Quest, "This is a proud moment for Quest Technologies. We are re-affirming our leadership position in acoustic measurement instrumentation by giving the customer more efficiency, flexibility and power than previously available anywhere from a single hand-held device."

This hand-held acoustic measurement system is built around a state-of-the-art digital signal processor (DSP) platform and a color graphics PDA-style user interface with backlighting for operation in dark environments, plus adjustable screen contrast for use in bright conditions.
The SoundPro DLX uses real-time frequency analysis to reduce testing times for octave and 1/3 octave analysis efforts by 91% and 97% respectively! Because all spectral data is captured in real-time, test results are far more reliable & accurate than traditional sound levels meters with sequential octave band analysis. The SoundPro DLX eliminates paper by capturing voice notes and drawings in the field and attaching them electronically to the relevant data for easy future reference and retrieval. A Sound Curve Capture utility builds libraries of "spectral footprints" allowing easy & convenient comparison of prior measurements to subsequent live measurements while in the field. Applications include quick and simple confirmation of proper equipment performance and detection of undesirable changes in noise output from equipment and systems. Providing the "Power of Three", the SoundPro DLX is actually two integrating/datalogging sound levels meters and one integrating/datalogging real-time frequency analyzer all in one instrument. Preset and user-defined operating "profiles" allow for quick instrument setup in the field and easy transition from one application to the next. Incredibly, the SoundPro DLX will even connect to a wired or wireless Ethernet network and act as an acoustical data web server, giving users complete remote instrument control and data access from anywhere in the world.
