AIS interlocks on the enclosure's access doors now break the control circuit to the robot when a trapped key is released by the operator
To ensure safe access to the new stacking robot on its product handling line, Cape Boards Ltd, the UK leader in fire protection boards for buildings, has had safety interlocks from Castell Safety International installed on the access doors of the robot's enclosure at its Uxbridge factory.
AIS interlocks on the enclosure's access doors now break the control circuit to the robot when a trapped key is released by the operator. Deactivating the supply in this way releases the key and unlocks the access door of the cell as well as activating a flashing beacon. The operator keeps the key while in the enclosure and power can only be returned to the robot when the access door has been closed and the key reinserted into the interlock.
