Safety Services Company Offers Infographic To Help Increase Roadway Danger Awareness

Safety Services Company is releasing a new infographic to help raise employee awareness regarding the dangers of the roadway.

Tempe, Ariz. (PRWEB) - Safety Services Company is offering employers a new infographic to help raise employee awareness regarding the dangers of the roadway.

Motor vehicle-related incidents are consistently the leading cause of work-related fatalities in the United States. In fact, 36% of occupational fatalities reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics are associated with motor vehicles.

“Driver safety needs to be a huge priority for employers,” said Safety Services Company spokesman Michael Rich. “This thought-provoking infographic can help illustrate the importance of safe driving practices.”

In addition to the tragic loss of lives caused by motor-vehicle accidents—about 1,300 workers die every year on our roadways—they have a profound impact on a business’s bottom line.

From 1998-2000, motor-vehicle crash injuries occurring on and off the job in the U.S. were estimated to cost employers nearly $60 billion annually. On average, a fatality that occurs on the job costs a business more than $500,000 in direct and liability costs; each non-fatal injury costs nearly $74,000.

Although it’s critical that every employee who utilizes a company vehicles receives proper training, Rich said, employees are not the only ones who must be made aware of the hazards of the roadway.

“Employers must understand that all drivers will encounter hazardous conditions and other challenging situations on the road,” Rich said. “Therefore, employers need to be proactive in educating their employees regarding driver safety—especially employers located in remote areas, or whose employees spend most of their day inside a vehicle.

“This training should include an understanding of driver fatigue, navigating roadway hazards, as well as other topics pertinent to a company’s location and business model. A business is not only liable for ensuring that its employees remain safe of the job, but they must also take responsibility to help their employees arrive home safely when the day is done.”

The timing of Safety Services Company’s decision to offer the complimentary poster to employers coincides with two other national campaigns focusing on driver safety this August: “National Stop on Red Week” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over."
