Source: National Safety Council
National Safety Councilty + Health is a monthly magazine that covers a variety of occupational safety issues, including poison control, broken glass hazards, and the potential harm of herbal remedies. One section provides advice on how to deal with a case of accidental poisoning, and how to be prepared when calling the Poison Control Center. Also included in this publication is a report on how health workers are at risk from broken glass. This risk occurs with the accidental breakage of the glass capillary tubes that are used to collect blood from patients. The most common dangers are infection with HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C.
