Simplex Unveils Static-Dissipative Workplace Mat

PolySim

Fontana, CA - The Polysim 509 Work Surface Mat from Simplex Isolation Systems represents the next generation of workplace mats for ultra-sensitive environments in the semiconductor, electronics and optical industries. The mat is has permanent static dissipative properties, is made from non-outgassing material, and does not particulate and thus contaminate the workplace.

"Molecular contamination, static electricity and fire safety are all problems facing today's advanced cleanrooms and ultra-clean workplaces," noted Duane McKinnon, president of Simplex. "We designed the Polysim 509 Work Surface Mat to function specifically in this environment."

Polysim, a revolutionary material developed several years ago by Simplex for use in cleanroom curtains and softwalls, is made from a patented formula of thermoplastic urethane. The material is non-outgassing, protecting against workplace contamination at the molecular level. Polysim also has permanent static dissipative properties that protect against the hazards of static electricity. Additionally, PolySim 509 Work Surface Mats have superior abrasion resistance characteristics, guarding against particulation, another source of contamination in cleanrooms and ultra-clean work environments.

The Polysim 509 mat is made from two layers of .040 Polysim sealed over an impact absorbing polyurethane conductive foam core. This creates an easy-to-clean surface suitable for all levels of cleanroom us. The mats are also ASTM E84 class 1 and NFPA 701 fire rated.

Polysim is available in custom sizes, including any width up to 48 inches, and lengths up to 96 inches. The total thickness of the material is .22 inches, or approximately ¼ inch. Available colors include black and white.
