SkillSurvey Releases New Pre-Hire Assessment Tools To Identify Safety-Focused Job Candidates In Power, Oil & Gas Industries

Pre-Hire 360® Uses a Fast, Efficient Process to Identify Candidates’ Commitment to Workplace Health & Safety

Wayne, PA (PRWEB) - SkillSurvey, Inc., the inventor of the Pre-Hire 360® assessment which recently received a U.S. Patent Notice of Allowance, today announced that it has added a new “Workplace Health and Safety” competency cluster to help Power, Oil & Gas and other industrial employers identify candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to workplace safety. SkillSurvey is also releasing new job-specific surveys to support hiring for key positions in these industries.

“This new safety cluster will help hiring managers identify whether a candidate cares about safety on the job, based on assessments from prior co-workers and managers – the most important indicator there is,” said Ray Bixler, president & CEO of SkillSurvey, Inc. “Safety in the workplace comes down to the people you hire. That’s why hiring the right staff is the single most important driver of success and a risk-free work environment.”

Pre-Hire 360® allows hiring managers to evaluate a candidate’s past performance based on answers to job-specific survey questions provided by prior managers, co-workers and direct reports. SkillSurvey has more than 350 job-specific surveys that help recruiters better screen candidates before interviewing and narrow their applicant pool. On average, assessments are available in less than two days, usually with more than four references providing responses.

“We are pleased with the benefits that we have gained since launching SkillSurvey at Weatherford. The speed in which the candidates and referrals respond – typically under 24hrs – is much quicker than the way we did references in our past,” said Stacey Marr, Talent Acquisition Manager, Weatherford. “Plus, the quality of candid feedback data helps us to effectively screen candidates. Finally, we’re identifying a terrific new passive candidate source through the opt-in option for references.”

Hiring managers can now use Pre-Hire 360® to identify candidates displaying a strong commitment to job-specific health and safety behaviors. The assessments cover employees in the field as well as those in engineering and managerial positions. The nature and content of the survey items are aligned with behaviors related to health and safety on the specific job in question. The first surveys included in the new Workplace Health & Safety Cluster include: Derrickhand, Floorhand/Roustabout, Petroleum Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Environmental Health & Safety Manager, Skilled Trades Worker, and Truck Driver.

The energy sector is among the most challenging industries for hiring, with a tight labor market, a large contingent workforce, and fast-moving, project-based demands. At the same time, HR leaders are challenged to mitigate risks, such as on-the-job injuries and environmental accidents, which can be directly influenced by employees who adhere to safety standards and the implementation of a safety culture.

“SkillSurvey’s patented solution has been scientifically validated to predict employee success leading to better performance and reduced turnover,” said Bixler. “Using these new surveys, organizations should be able to recognize job candidates who display strong safety attitudes and predispositions, validate a candidate’s competencies to perform the tasks required, and for some positions, assist in identifying the candidate’s leadership abilities.”
