Solectek Announces SkyWay 4000 Series For 4.9 GHz Public Safety Applications

San Diego, CA - Solectek recently announced the availability of the new SkyWay 4000 Series wireless bridge and router systems. Operating in the licensed 4.9 GHz frequency band, the 4000 Series is designed to serve public safety agencies operating under state and local governments. Both private enterprise and the federal government entities working in conjunction with local governments are also eligible to use the band.

The SkyWay 4000 Series features an industry-leading 400mW radio supporting link distances in excess of 20 miles. For high bandwidth applications, such as video surveillance or streaming video transfer, the product line offers RF link rates to 108 Mbps. For combined multimedia network traffic, QoS features provide for the inspection and expedited delivery of prioritized voice, video and real-time traffic.

Maximizing deployment flexibility, the 4000 Series can operate in narrow 5 MHz and 10 MHz channels, thus supporting local frequency coordination efforts among various public safety organizations.

"This is really the best-in-class 4.9 GHz system on the market today. Its combined features of high data rate, high radio power, and software capabilities enable the first true wireless broadband deployment in this band," says David Gell, VP of Engineering for Solectek.

"We are now opening the doors wide for the public safety sector to take advantage of the latest developments in wireless broadband technologies. We are pleased to be the first to offer them in a single package," adds Dr. Eric Lee, CEO of Solectek.

Commercial shipment of the 4000 Series will commence in mid-October, 2005.
