With the increased summer heat, Succeed adds the Heat Stress Prevention training course to help keep workers safe and avoid heat-related illness.

Portland, OR (PRWEB) - Heat stress is a medical condition that occurs when the body’s normal temperature balance cannot be maintained because it can no longer cool itself. There are numerous fatalities every year from occupational heat exposure, both indoors and outdoors. According to OSHA, in 2012, 31 people died from heat-related exposures and 4,120 workers suffered from heat-related illnesses.

OSHA is known to issue “heat-related citations” if they visit a worksite and identify unsafe conditions. These conditions can include high air temperatures, high humidity, radiant heat sources, strenuous physical activity, and lack of water or breaks for workers. Heat must be proactively addressed by employers to comply with OSHA’s regulations.

Succeed Management Solutions, LLC has a training course entitled “Preventing Heat Stress.” Heat stress training and specific workplace procedures are required in various occupational settings. This training can help workers understand the factors that contribute to heat stress, how to recognize, treat, and prevent heat-related illnesses, and the requirements for a heat stress training program.

The Heat Stress Prevention training course can help organizations save costs and improve working conditions by reducing risks, controlling exposures, and helping workers to avoid incidents, accidental illness, and claims. It can also assist with OSHA compliance. Offering this training, along with other proactive heat stress and heat-related illness prevention efforts, can significantly improve workplace safety, health, and morale.

The Heat Stress Prevention training is available in both English and Spanish and is accessible via the web. It can be assigned and managed through the Training Track™ application of the Risk Management Center, an automated learning management system. Training Track helps organizations maintain accurate training records and document compliance. More safety training courses are available on Succeed’s website, and these courses are available via Training Track.

OSHA also has a running campaign to help prevent heat illness. They have created the Heat Safety Tool, which is a smartphone app that helps calculate the heat index and provides guidance on how to avoid and deal with elevated heat. This application is also available in English and Spanish.
