Succeed introduces the online Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Training to help organizations ensure employees know how to use PPE appropriately and effectively

(PRWEB) - Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees.

Howard Eberts, OSHA's area director in Cleveland, Ohio, emphasizes that, “Employers have a responsibility to train workers about hazards found in their facilities and to take precautions to prevent injuries and illnesses." Mr. Eberts was referring to the recent issuance of 13 safety violations to a Cleveland recycler and plastic products supplier, many of which were serious violations that involved failing to train workers about the use and wearing of PPE, as well as the employer’s failure to supply proper PPE for the hazardous conditions found in the workplace (article here)

Another company, a frozen food manufacturer, along with a contracted temporary employment agency and maintenance company, were levied fines totaling nearly $265,000. The OSHA inspection of their Atlanta, Georgia facility found that the companies failed to protect workers from dangerous exposure to ammonia used in the refrigeration system, for failing to provide workers with properly fitted respirators, and failing to provide necessary training (article here)

Succeed Management Solutions, LLC has created a Personal Protective Equipment online training course designed to help employees determine the potential hazards of the job, select the appropriate PPE for potential hazards, and properly inspect, use, and maintain personal protective equipment. Organizations that require this training are better able to reduce lost time, increase productivity, and decrease costs associated with accidents, medical costs, legal claims, and hefty fines.

Providing training on the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment should be an important part of any organization’s workplace safety strategy. Use of PPE is often essential and it is usually the last line of protection a worker has after engineering, work practice, and administrative controls. The training can also help organizations comply with regulatory requirements.

This training is available in both English and Spanish and is accessible via the Internet. It can be assigned and managed through the Training Track™ application of the Risk Management Center, an automated learning management system. Training Track™ helps organizations maintain accurate training records, and document compliance.
